MAR AND THE MINI MANOR

Hello beauties!

Last week I was in a store with my friend when I laid eyes on a beautiful cardboard house with colorful detailed drawings on it. My curiosity took over and I opened it to find out what it was: an Advent Calendar filled with nail polishes!
When I was a little girl I got an Advent Calendar from my mom and dad so I could count the days till Christmas and my birthday which is on the 27th of December. The impatient little kid that I was, didn't bother waiting and I opened more than one window at a time. Starting my day with a little piece of chocolate was completely normal to me.
Even though this Advent Calendar doesn't contain any chocolate, it was still love at first sight ;). But seeing that it was already halfway December I put it back on the shelves.

STATEMENT NECKLACES

Statement necklaces at Forever 21, the Six and Zara make my fashion heart beat faster. But when I turn the price tag to check I often leave it hanging on the rack. Statement necklaces aren't my everyday pieces and I don't wanna spend €30 on an item I only wear twice.
So when I found out about the amazing deals eBay sellers offer on necklaces I couldn't resist! Last week these two buys arrived at my house!

MAC MATTE LIPSTICK DIVA

Diva
Today I'm showing you a gorgeous red lipstick from MAC - Matte finish: Diva. In the photo above I'm wearing the lipstick. I got inspired to write about my current favorite lipstick because of a lot of beauty bloggers that I follow. I bought mine last month at the MAC Cosmetics counter inside the Douglas perfumery, Kalverstraat in Amsterdam. For my birthday I was given a €15 gift card to spend so I ended up only paying €3,50 for a MAC lipstick (which to me felt like a total bargain!) and it made the whole purchase a little party, haha! My best friend and I put on the lipstick right after we left the store and we noticed how different it looked on either of us. At night we went to the Beyoncé concert (!!!) and I felt like a #truediva wearing the dark matte lip color. But why on earth did I get so obsessed with this lipstick color? The answer is... Shay Mitchell.
You're never fully dressed without a smile...
When I first saw this look I was sold. I thought it was both sexy ànd smart. A deadly combination! I looked up the exact lipstick Shay had on her lips but I thought €40 was too much to spend on a lipstick, even a high end one by Tom Ford. After I showed this picture to the friendly advisor at the MAC counter, she immediately got the color Diva from a drawer and made me try it on. The lipstick Shay is wearing is Black Orchid by Tom Ford. Diva is truly a great dupe. Lip colors look different on everyone because some lips are more pigmented than others and skin colors can change the way a lip color looks. Next to that I always put on my own make-up while Shay had Quinn Murphy do it for her. I don't blame her! Quinn is a New York based celebrity make-up artist and her work is amazing. Shay dedicated an entire blogpost to her Super Bowl look called Get the look: Super Bowl Hair & Make-up!
Blurry/hipster
What I love most about this lip color is the mystery it brings to any look. I do find that this lipstick dries out my lips really fast. A scrub and moisturize pre-treatment is required if you want your lips to look nice when wearing this lipstick. I have to be honest with you: I haven't put Diva on that many times yet because it's not very daytime appropriate and I don't wanna be concerned wheather of or not my lipstick is still in place when I'm at college or hanging out with friends. It was however, VERY Beyoncé-concert-proof! Here is a little snap shot from our night with Queen B! Pardon me for the bad lighting but I really am wearing Diva.

It also shows in my outfits. Flowers and bright colors!

OOTD Red Wash

Today is just a day like any other. I'm doing a little homework, reading blog articles and watching new video's on YouTube.
I thought it would be nice to show you the outfit that I'm wearing today. Very laid-back but still smart and appropriate for class.

SPRING DON'T MAKE ME WAIT

Every season I love finding pieces that compliment my existing wardrobe while at the same time giving it a little update. Combining the old with the new is something that helps me create my personal style because I can mix and match my favorite jeans with a new top, therefore not buying a whole outfit following the latest fashion trends.

FROM ITALY WITH LOVE

Today I have a very special recipe for you. This particular dish is something my boyfriend and I came up with in 2012. We looked at recipes online, learned how to marinate tomatoes from his sister and brought whatever ingredients we liked to the mix. It's basically our very own love recipe. This oven dish is perfect for a lazy Sunday night with family and friends. And it's Italian! What's not to love!?

TOMATO AND PEPPER CANNELLONI
Ingredients
250 grams of Roma tomatoes
300 grams of tomato paste
200 ml Greek yogurt
100 ml of extra virgin olive oil
50 ml water
1 onion
1 red pepper
1 yellow pepper
25 g of chives
2 cloves of garlic
salt
pepper
fresh basil
handful grated Parmesan cheese

Directions
First things first. Start with cutting the Roma tomatoes in half because you want them to be completely and thoroughly marinated. Pour the olive oil in a hot frying pan. Add minced garlic, salt and pepper. When it's mixed together and starts to smell amazing, add all the tomatoes. Make sure not to cook your tomatoes in the oil. Leave it simmer until the rest of the dish is ready. You can play with this by adding chili flakes, shredded coconut or maybe oregano.

Next mix the greek yogurt, chives, water and tomato paste together. Make sure the substance isn't too thin. It needs to be sauce-like. Add more or less water if you have to.Now cook the cannelloni tubes for four minutes. In the mean time cut the peppers and onion in small pieces, then add to the mixture. When you take the cannelloni off the heat, be careful not too hurt yourself, then fill them up with the mixture. You can use a spoon or fork for this. You can now put the stuffed cannelloni's in a greased baking dish and put it in a pre-heated oven at 200 degrees for 40 minutes.

Before it goes into the oven, make sure to straw as much cheese as you like on top. After the 40 minutes you can remove the dish from the oven. You then can use the marinated Roma tomatoes and fresh basil leafs to decorate the dish. Not only is this super tasty, it's also very colorful and therefore a cheerful dinner to put on your dinner table.

THE LITTLEST THINGS

The littlest things... it's a cliche but so true. If you cannot see beauty in small things, you will have a hard time finding happiness in big things. The day before yesterday, I decided to go for a walk. The sun was shining in my face the whole time during dinner which made me wanna capture the beautiful evening sky. You can find art on every street corner and in every garden but on my walk I tried to only shoot objects that really stood out to me.
Gorgeous bright flowers...

SLEEPING BEAUTY

Today I'm sharing with you my favorite place of the house. I'm referring to my bed!(I realize how lazy this must sound to you)
I spend a lot of time in and on my bed. I feel great when I grant myself enough sleep; more energy and ready to take on every single day. And I just love sleeping in, having breakfast in bed and reading up on my favorite blogs while still in my PJ's.

AMSTERDAM MEETUP WITH EVELINA

Yesterday was a pretty awesome day. In the morning I woke up next to my boyfriend and he made me breakfast with pancakes and fresh fruit.
I was completely stoked because one look through the window revealed that the first snowfall of this winter had arrived in our garden. Whoever said winter was coming was right! ;-)

WHAT I GOT FOR CHRISTMAS 2013

I know I'm a little late to the WhatIgotforChristmas-party, but you know what they say: better late than never!
As a kid I never truly got to love Christmas the way I do now. We used to celebrate Sinterklaas on the 5th of December which is a common thing to do in the Netherlands. And seeing that my birthday is on the 27th, it makes sense that we sortof skipped on Christmas celebrations. But over the last few years my love for Christmas has grown stronger.

For this years Love Your Body challenge I decided I wanted to be able to keep good track of my exercise and food intake. I therefore downloaded the January Calender as pictured above.
But I wanted something else. Something for the entire six weeks that would make me proud every single day. That's when I decided to make my own Tone It Up Love Your Body Planner and Diary!
